Resumo: The foot is an important proprioceptive member that transmits static and dynamic forces to the body, captured from its contact with the ground. The postural control system is based on an intrinsic coordination with the vestibular system, visual and tactile information. In this work, a baropodometer prototype was implemented consisting of two platforms, each with 60 force resistive sensors in matricial distribution, signal conditioning circuitry, data interfacing and a personal computer. With the aid of a computer program, one can determine the magnitude of the force applied at 240 points from the measurements of the120 sensors and calculations related to the mechanical structure of the platforms. Using the finite elements method it was possible to validate the results of structural analytical analysis and propose a new methodology of interpolation. Thus, information about the force distribution on plantar region of patients are shown on a computer screen. The equipment was used to measure the weight distribution of 10 healthy volunteers and 10 hemiplegic in the plantar region. Hemiplegic performed exercises to establish their classification according to Berg balance scale. The results show that the implemented equipment has the potential to clinically investigate pathologies studied by Podology, Posturology and Podoposturology
