Resumo: | The technology related to internal combustion engine, both the spark ignition system and the compression ignition one, is already established since one century ago, but the technology referring to the design and manufacture of this kind of engine in Brazil is imported mainly from United State and Europe. Taking into account our reality, starting from a cylindrical gray cast iron sample, the cylinder head of single cylinder air cooled engine, which stand for a 400 [cc] displacement, was machined according to the machining capacity of a group of machines belonging to this University. The present work was based on small and mobile engines that are well known in the Brazilian industry as well as on the technological literature.
