Resumo: The aim of this study is to investigate creating and staging processes in contemporary theater. Accordingly, two case studies are addressed and analyzed: the Hiato Theater Company with their named Fiction Project and a enterprise undertaken by the author at the Center for Research and Experimentation of Scenic Actor (CEPECA), USP, titled Experimento Pas de Deux. These two studies are apart at their beginnings and a piece of one passed to compose the scene of another, causing thereby an interweaving of research. Among all the aspects and characteristics were significant in relation to the aforementioned creations and serve as a basis for analysis: actors and actresses who perceive of themselves, the double, the transition between the character and the non character, and, finally, the meta-language and theatricality, one strip of expedients of the scene. The study here developed seeks support in various researchers whose theoretical works suggest a possible way of approach and analysis to the data collected and the findings crises. Among these researchers are Sarrazac Jean-Pierre (2012), Patrice Pavis (2008), Hans-Thies Lehman (2010), and others of which this study cited passages that may elucidate relevant points
