Resumo: Soybeans has been highlighted as one of the main crops grown in Brazil and worldwide. The State of Paraná is a major national producer expanding its production area over the past crops. However, the advancement of different agricultural crops in the State was due to the decline in native vegetation areas. Remote sensing techniques are highlighted as an important tool for the sown area data estimation and also of native vegetation in time and space. In this context, the aim of this study was to perform space-time occupation of soybeans and subtraction of native vegetation analysis in selected counties in Paraná West region in selected years between 1953 and 2014, by means of remote sensing techniques. For the preparation of thematic maps, there were used images from Landsat 5, 7 e 8 satellites as well as aerial photographs. For the mapping conduct was analyzed the spectral behavior of soybeans and native vegetation, then performed visual interpretation methods for aerial photographs and for the satellite images automatic classification followed by visual interpretation. As a result, there were obtained maps of vegetation cover areas for selected scenarios. The verification of cartographic mapping accuracy was performed by Ginevan method, which showed 95% of accuracy. Soybeans produced area data obtained in this study were compared to the official survey of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), which was observed modest difference in most periods. Of all obtained data, the native vegetation in 1953 occupied more than 92% of the study area while in the 2013/2014 period now has approximately 19% of area. Meanwhile in the period of 2013/2014 soybeans introduced a total of 56.2% of the study area. These data indicate that the methodology applied in this study allowed the perception and quantification of intense decline in native vegetation due to the agricultural frontier expansion and also the current domain of the...
