Resumo: | This research is linked to the line Childhood and Education of the Post-graduate Program in Education of FCT / UNESP, Presidente Prudente, campus / SP, with the main objective to investigate how the teaching of cause and effect helps children at the 6th year of elementary school in the written text of the construction process. The specific objectives were to verify whether through interactions in interventional workshops students appropriate the elements concerned; examine whether during dynamic the students understood the consequence of elements; analyze the awareness of cause and effect between initial and final products; ascertain whether after contact with the relations of cause and effect there are changes in textual coherence of the group members. Methodologically it was developed a qualitative research, classified as a case study because it was applied in a restricted field for observation of a group of three students before, during and after participation in interventional workshops in a public school in the countryside of State of São Paulo, with the IDEB below the established goals. For data collection, different instruments were used: documentary analysis of writing of three participants, who attended all the meetings before and after the workshops, in addition to observing the notes made by students during semi-directed reflective interview.
