Resumo: In the face of the depletion of natural resources, the discussions involving energy issues are seeking a sustainable and conscious use of energy inputs. In Brazil about 30 % of the energy used comes from renewable sources (hydroelectric or biomass). The use of biomass as a renewable source degrades the energy matrix and represents a low cost alternative with high energy potential. This work will present a bench test to measure the production of the biogas volume and its components, through the BMP - Biochemichal Potential Methane test. A blend of biomass, sugarcane bagasse in the proportion by weight of 70 % was used, varying its granulometry in three types of sieves, and 30 % swine manure, inoculated in batch biodigesters. The study was carried out with 4 treatments and 3 replicates, aiming to verify in which of the treatments the largest volume of biogas production occurred, observing the inherent characteristics of the gases present (CH4, CO2, H2S), besides estimating parameters as percentage of fixed solids , volatiles, totals, removal of total, fixed and volatile solids, biogas yield in relation to total and volatile solids, total methane production in relation to total and volatile solids and total methane production. The hypothesis of this study is that the higher biogas production occurs in the treatment with smaller particle size of the sugarcane bagasse, due to the increase of the contact surface favoring the attack of the bacteria. The results of the evaluated parameters, showed that the experiment with smaller T4 particle size obtained superior performance to the others. It was concluded that, in the treatment with smaller particle size of sugarcane bagasse, greater biogas production occurred.
