Resumo: | This study investigates the factors leading to the termination of the Bachelor’s Degree in Education for the Countryside (LEDOC) at the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR), Dois Vizinhos Campus, through an analysis of the historical context and educational policies related to rural education. The research examines the institutional, political, and economic guidelines that influenced the course's discontinuation. The Licentiate Courses in Rural Education aim to train teachers primarily for action in land reform settlements, camps linked to social movements, and rural schools, facilitating an education tailored to the realities of students living in rural areas. Therefore, the closure of such a course necessitates an in-depth investigation, as it reflects a potential discontinuity in access to rural education and the training of professionals equipped to address this context. This study explores the process of course termination at UTFPR-Dois Vizinhos within the broader context of educational policies in agrarian regions. Utilizing a qualitative and exploratory case study approach, the research involved critical analysis of documents and literature. The objective is to identify and understand the historical, political, social, educational, and economic factors influencing this decision, contributing to discussions about the termination of this and other LEDOC courses in similar contexts. The investigation reveals specific reasons for the course's closure and provides insights into educational policies aimed at rural areas, particularly in light of reduced investments in PROCAMPO. This study aims to provide insights to strengthen discussions regarding the continuation and expansion of rural education programs in Brazil. |
