For decades researchers have discussed what defines a successful project. Although the evaluation of project performance is important, it is also essential to know what are the necessary conditions for an environment conducive to the development of successful projects. In this sense, the objective of this research is to analyze the associations between the degree of success obtained in the Foz do Iguaçu hotel projects, and the levels of existence of Critical Success Factors for Project Management (CSFPM). It should be noted that the hotels do not yet have formal project management methodology, and this may be another management tool to improve the results obtained. Data collected through a survey of 51 projects revealed significant correlations between the degree of success of the projects and the level of existence of the CSFPM in the hotels surveyed, with special emphasis on the "Capacity and availability of HR" and "Using Lessons Learned "and" Conduct 7 Formal Presentations of the PMO "as the strongest and moderate correlations respectively.
