Resumo: The speech in western Paraná is marked by social, cultural, and linguistic diversity. Being the stage for different migratory movements, especially German and Italian descendants who came from Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina and met groups of speakers from different parts of Brazil, this region was the last one to be colonized in the state. The theme presented in this thesis is the formation of linguistic areas in Western Paraná due to the heterogeneity and mutability of the language and the migratory movements. The description of linguistic areas based on the analysis of the phonetic phenomena allows us to recover the trajectory, permanence, or abandonment of forms, as a reflection of the cultural, social, and linguistic identity of the community. This paper is guided by the following research question: in the linguistic areas formed in the region around colonizing groups and migratory movements, southern and northern ones, can processes of maintenance and linguistic variation be identified in the registration of variants for the voiceless and voiced dental stop followed by the front high vowel? The general objective of this thesis is to describe the formation of linguistic areas in the region, considering the colonizing groups and the migratory movements, southern and northern ones, regarding the maintenance and linguistic variation in the registration of the voiceless and voiced dental stop in two synchronies: (i ) from 1985 to 1989, from ALPR (AGUILERA, 1994), from ALPR II (ALTINO, 2007) and (ii) the end of the first decade of 2000, in A geosociolinguistic study of the speech in the west of Paraná. – Volume I (BUSSE, 2010). Grounded in variationist studies, Dialectology, and Geolinguistics, this thesis is based on Cardoso (2001, 2002), Aguilera (1994, 2005), Althenhofen (2005; 2017), Thun (1998, 2005, 2009), Altino (2007) and Busse (2010). The data reveal: i) formation of linguistic areas with greater variation between the dental stop and the alveo-palatal affricate in municipalities that were colonized by groups coming from the north and the center of Paraná, predominantly in Assis Chateaubriand and Guaíra, ii) areas in a transition phase between forms, in localities formed by descendants of Italian and German immigrants, but also with the presence of workers from the northeast and the southeast of Brazil, such as Cascavel and Guaraniaçu, and iii) linguistic areas that, due to southern colonization, register the maintenance of the dental stop, like Marechal Cândido Rondon
