Resumo: The object of this research is to survey the profile of students from the first class of the Pedagogy course at Unioeste, Foz do Iguaçu campus, as well as the percentage of graduates who worked in the state school system in 2019 in that municipality, intending with this work, to obtain data that demonstrate the relevance of the course for local and regional society. Thus, to contextualize the object of this research, the history, in its genesis, of the creation of the Pedagogy Course at Unioeste-Campus Foz do Iguaçu is presented, supporting the study's reflection on the premises of dialectical materialism. Bibliographic and documentary research was carried out on the creation of the Course, and through a questionnaire via a form, the survey of the profile of the students in their first class, regarding socioeconomic aspects, continuing education and professional performance. A questionnaire was also used, via telephone and WhatsApp, to obtain data on the number of graduates of the Higher Education institutions from which the pedagogues (the) who made up the Framework for Teaching of the state network in the municipality come from. de Foz do Iguaçu- PR, in 2019, relating the number of educators trained at UNIOESTE - Campus Foz in relation to the number of educators (e) graduates from the other higher education institutions. It was concluded, through the subsidies obtained (still in an incipient way) the relevance that has the 20 years of the Pedagogy Course for the city of Foz do Iguaçu and region, since the percentage related to the professional sphere of the graduates from the first Pedagogy class at Unioeste-Foz do Iguaçu, indicated that 70% work in the area of education. Regarding graduates who performed their functions as pedagogues in state schools in 2019, considering the 3 institutions with the highest percentages achieved: 36% are graduates of Unioeste; 19% are graduates from União Dinâmica de Faculdade Cataratas, a private institution that offers the Pedagogy course in the city of Foz do Iguaçu and 16% are graduates from Unoeste- private university based in the state of São Paulo. If only the institutions based in Foz do Iguaçu are considered: 63% of the educators (e) are graduates of Unioeste, 33% of UDC and 4% of Uniamérica. The data obtained point to academic training (public, free and of quality) for the professional performance of the graduates as a social contribution of Unioeste - Campus Foz for the educational development of the municipality and region.
