Resumo: | The general objective of this work is to understand and analyze how the defense of freedom is carried out in the daily professional practice of the social worker, with the specific objectives: to analyze the construction of a new ethics in the construction of a new professional ethos in the rupture with conservatism ; to analyze the concept of freedom present in the current Code of Ethics of the social worker; understand how the defense of freedom is carried out, in the daily life of professional practice, by the social worker of the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance (SMAS) of Cascavel/PR. To this end, a bibliographic selection relevant to the theme was carried out, and, as the main instrument, two forms were adopted online directed to social workers of the Municipal Social Assistance Department of Cascavel/PR. The first form aimed to outline a profile of the professionals and the professional insertion in the institution, characterizing, briefly, the conditions in which the professional exercise is carried out, being sent to the 70 social workers of the Municipal Department, with the return of 11 professionals. The second form, after selection, through methodological criteria, was addressed to four social workers selected from the same universe of social workers, following the criteria: having answered the first form; act in some service (different for each of the four social workers) of the Social Assistance Policy; have completed training after 2000; and, if necessary, as a tie-breaking criterion, having more time working at SMAS, obtaining three returns. The research sought to qualitatively deepen aspects related to ethics and Social Work and the first Fundamental Principle of the Social Worker's Code of Ethics (Code of Ethics): freedom. This investigation is in line with what is present in the Code of Ethics, especially in political times of barbarism, neoconservatism, dismantling of rights and the precariousness of public policies, which can facilitate the re-updating of conservative projects in the profession. In the chapters that make up this work, we sought to generate conditions for the reader to perceive the framework adopted for the development of the research, which will also guide the analysis and interpretation of the data collected through forms, aimed at social workers who perform their activities at SMAS from Cascavel/PR. In the first chapter, after a brief exposition on the social being and freedom, elements of the socio-historical trajectory covered by professional ethics in Social Work in Brazil are presented, evidenced by the Codes of Ethics, and the philosophical conception of freedom found in the Code of Ethics in force. The second chapter presents the theoretical foundation of the current Code of Ethics and the principle of freedom, as well as a discussion of professional ethics in professional practice. In the third chapter, the following are presented: the methodology that was adopted; the information obtained through the research as a profile about the professionals and the professional insertion in the institution, characterizing, briefly, the conditions in which the professional exercise is carried out; presentation and analysis of the qualitative material obtained in the feedback given by the four social workers who responded to the second form. From this material, a reflective analysis on how the defense of freedom is carried out by the social worker at SMAS Cascavel-PR. Thus, it was observed that freedom, as a social category, concretely corresponds to the existence of possibilities of choices in the daily life of the social worker. As conclusive considerations, some aspects are pointed out, among them, that the defense of freedom is evident, as professionals are able to carry out the process of interpretation of social reality. This makes it possible for the various population segments that are served by the Municipal Social Assistance Policy of Cascavel-PR to also understand the social dynamics. |
