Resumo: Electricity represents a significant cost for the agribusiness chain. Added to the sector's challenge of implementing solutions aimed at sustainability, the search for renewable energy sources aligned with cost optimization has been increasing. In this context, this work presents a comparison of the economic viability of a biogas power plant from the cogeneration of agro-industrial substrates between the free contracting environment - ACL and the regulated contracting environment - ACR. The economic feasibility analysis is based on evaluating the Net Present Value - VPN, Internal Rate of Return - IRR and Discounted Payback indicators. Considering the results obtained, it was found that the VPN analysis indicated that the ACL is more viable when compared to the ACR. In the ACL, the savings of the energy generation system are greater than in the ACR, with a value of 65.74% and 71.80% respectively. Finally, the result is that the most attractive model for setting up a biogas plant is the ACL.
