Resumo: Along the last decades the utilization of computer networks has increased considerably, together with the adoption of emerging real-time applications and the raise in traffic concurrency competing for network resources. Within this heterogeneous environment, the traditional network management techniques based on quality of service metrics and network engineering are not able, in general, to meet the requirements of user’ s applications. At the same time, research is being under way to identify new metrics in order to support the evaluation of computational systems, such as the quality of devices applied, the quality of experience noticed by the user that interacts with the system, and the context itself related to all the related entities. Research related to new routing algorithms based on context have been carried out. However, these research outcomes focus mainly on wireless networks, mobility issues and opportunistic networks. Therefore, this work proposes a generic approach for the collecting and validation of context information considering the traditional quality of service metrics as well as quality of device and quality of experience metrics, before this information being applied to support routing decisions.
