The purpose of this dissertation is to analyze the revitalization process of the historical, architectural and cultural patrimony of Cachoeira city, under a perspective of how this action can contribute considerably to the economic growth of Bahia´s Recôncavo, particularly to this city, which is considered a national monument. In the past, the city of Cachoeira had a large importance in production and discharge of many products, such as tobacco and sugar cane, to Salvador city and European countries. It keeps on its area one of the most beautiful architectural treasures of the Brazilian colony period, however nowadays forgotten or in dreadful conditions of degeneration. Besides, Cachoeira has got a great heritage of cultural expression, which needs to be alive in order to keep its community cultural identity, since we have at the moment in the world an attempt of culture homogenization, imposed mostly for developed countries. Therefore, the recuperation of public or private overthrown properties of Aclamação Square and surroundings may be an encouraging model to strengthen the touristy activity at this city.
