Resumo: The construction industry is one of the most important sectors of the economy in Brazil. Thus, the industry has consolidated as the main employer of labor in the Brazilian economic scenario. The objective of this study is to analyze the participation of women as workers in the years 2010 and 2014, in Salvador, when they worked on the construction of the Arena Fonte Nova football stadium. The time frame is due to the effervescent period experienced by the sector with stadium construction work for the Football World Cup 2014. We present a critical analysis about the gender issue that deals with the world of work and aspects of sexual divide men and women. The study used as the main source of research interviews with women who worked in the construction of the Arena Fonte Nova. In his answers checked relevant issues to work in capitalist society, to the erosion produced by the system and to gender relations that are established in the production segment, as aspects of the informal economy, overcoming barriers and prejudices, noting the complementarity between men and women given the changes in the new millennium.
