Resumo: INTRODUCTION: Primary Care for Health has an extreme relevant role on health surveillance at workplace. Among the conditions to be examined, the nutritional profile is one of them. The “Program Health at School” has supported this acting. However, on may realize that there is a flaw on teenagers’ care process, which were identified with overweight or obesity since the acting developed alongside the students. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the care for teenagers identified with overweight and obesity by the “Program Health at School” from the city of Uberlandia (Minas Gerais). METODOLOGY: Three investigation parts composes this study: 1) An observational, descriptive and analytical study of the historical chain formed by diagnoses of overweight and obesity got from a city’s public school. 2) A qualitative study for a better understanding of those actions developed at the familiar environment since the acceptance of the referral. 3) A qualitative study based on the observation for the understanding of teenagers’ flow at the health unit. RESULTS: The results revealed that there has been an increase on the number of teenagers with weight problems. Parents’ perception regarding the need for care was diverse. Some substantiated the hindrances to access health services, which has been counteracted by other parents that could access those services without any trouble. Besides that, there has been a perception that overweight or obesity are considered a problem only when stated by laboratorial exams. CONCLUSION: There are flaws in caring for overweight and obese teenagers. Although the most fragile point found by this research was related to parents’ relationship about obesity or overweight diagnosis.
