Resumo: The literature considers that the criteria for project selection and risk management for the portfolio is very important for organizations to achieve their strategic objectives, but for small and medium-sized companies this statement is still inconclusive due to the lack of use of the processes and tools. The present study proposes two new methodologies, Casino Portfolio (project selection) and Portfolio Risk Dashboard (risk management) for small and medium firms, aiming to foment a new approach of low investment and low complexity that is adherent to the profile of the companies analyzed. This work was carried out in four stages: analysis of the literary base, applied research in small and medium-sized companies, elaboration of methodologies and pilot application. Through related studies, a questionnaire was elaborated with questions regarding criteria, processes and tools of project selection, as well as the processes and tools of risk management portfolio. The questionnaire was made available via email and social networks, obtaining a return of 49 firms, evidencing the low use of the tools and processes mentioned in previous studies. The main offenders of non-use were the complexity of processes and tools, lack of entrepreneurial knowledge, organizational culture and the need for considerable investment. In view of these results, the Casino Portfolio and Risk Dashboard Portfolio methodologies were elaborated and applied as a pilot in a small consulting company, proving the adherence, effectiveness of the models and meeting the expectations of the participating company
