Resumo: | This article aims to instigate the lack of motivation and insecurity of students from Federal University in Tocantis, Brasil, in order to insert environmental education in their pedagogical practices. A research was made by interwing 18 students from the last semester of Geography Faculty, using a qualitative based research and an evaluation of secondary datas from this public institution. The results have shown that the majority of them is not prepared to geared toward the teaching practices. Such a concern has become necessary, particularly with Brasilian legislation which ensures the knowledge in environmental education in their academic graduation training. Environmental education has been placed as a necessity to minimize and prevent problems involving the entire planet. Moreover, the National Environmental Education Policy enphasis that formal education has to be in evidence and teachers are responsible to start up this practice. Thus, this article argues how environmental education has been introduced during the preparation of Geography teachers and how are they effectively prepared for teaching practices. Moreover, it presents a proposal to introduce environmental education for the upper courses of the UFT following the example of Federal University of Uberlândia. In addition, through the resolution No. 26/2012 of the University Council, this changing towards the most current development, will contribute significantly to the quality of education and the well-being of society. This idea is seen positively by the students from the perspective of innovating methods of pedagogical practices of environmental education. The University must and can collaborate in sharing this idea and we hope seeing soon the results of this work in academic life and society. |
