Resumo: Public transit, whose main function is to promote the mobility of people and to integrate the various urban spaces, exercises an important role in society. The city of Monte Carmelo (MG) is developing increasingly, mainly because of the advanced campus of the Federal University of Uberlândia, thus require an efficient public transportation for the better displacement of people. The UFU-Monte Carmelo campus is decentralized in three units, distant from each other, that is, located in different regions, and consequently, students have to go through large distances to accomplish their academic activities and there are only two vehicles designated to do this transport. The objective of this work is to propose an integrated public transit system optimized to suit better the academic community of UFU in the city of Monte Carmelo. In order to reach the proposed objective, opinion and boarding/landing researches were used in order to verify the current situation of public transit. It was observed that the main shortcomings of the transport were the peak times, the small number of vehicles to do the transport, the behavior of the operators and the irregular stopping points of the vehicles, compromising the safety of the passengers. After this assignment, the addresses of the university students were allocated on the map of the TransCAD computer program in order to analyze the distance traveled by them to the stop points of the current route. It was verified that, in a radius of 400 meters, the current public transit covers 60,04% of the university students and 55.97% of the residences, also the program was used to simulate the current and proposed routes.
