Resumo: In a time when environmental issues are widely discussed, and on the other hand, the growing needs for energy, the use of renewable energy sources plays important rule and interest. Among the solutions, the wind energy resource has shown to be competitive and has attracted the attention in many countries. Due to the dynamic characteristics inherent to the winds and the various topologic arrangements typically employed to the transformation of mechanical energy into electricity, the interaction between the wind farms and the AC connection grid has become a matter of major concern. In fact, the accomplishment of power quality indicators and dynamic performance as defined by the regulating agencies can be taken as major challenges to be considered to achieve a satisfactory connection. Centered on this subject, this work is directed toward the definition of a physical structure for laboratory representing, on a reduced scale, a typical wind complex, aimed mainly at the trials with a focus on issues linked with the phenomena defined as indicators of power quality. Having the above in mind, this dissertation focuses the results of affords towards the conception of a physical structure, the hardware components, the software to operate the overall complex and, finally, to describe test results towards the validation of the experimental model set up to represent a typical wind arrangement of variable speed type equipped with synchronous generator.
