Resumo: | The role of the mite allergen exposure in sensitization and development of asthma has been widely recognized. Mites of the family Pyroglyphidae are well Known as the source o f highly potent house-dust-mite allergens. Two widespread species of this family, Dermalophagoides pteronyssinus and D. farinae, endemic all over the world, are of particular importance. Previous studies have shown that Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and Blomia tropicalis were most prevalent house mites in Brazil, while D. farinae was rarely found. The aim o f the present study was the identification and the detection of the mite allergens Der f 1, Der p 1 and Der p 2 in the house dust in the city of Uberaba/MG The dust samples were collected in 60 residences in the city of Uberaba, in the months of March, July and November of 2000, through vacuuming mattresses, pillows and sofas. ín the moment o f dust sampling were measured the temperature and the relative humidity. Using a stereoscope mites were collected with a fine needle, placed on a sheet with Hoyer’s solution for further identifícation with an optical microscope. Der f 1, Der p 1 and Der p 2 leveis were measured by two-side-monoclonal-antibody-based ELISAs. The major family observed was Pyroglyphidae (39,4%), with D. pteronyssinus (15,6%) and D. farinae (12,3%) the most ífequent species found. Glycyphagidae (4,8%) was the second more frequent mite family. The highest leveis of Der f 1, Der p 1 and Der p 2 allergen were found in bedding samples, in the month o f March. There was a positive correlation between the number of mites and allergen leveis. House dust mites are important allergens in the city of Uberaba, therefore know the mite fauna can possibility the addition of new mite extracts in the diagnostics test. |
