Resumo: In 1951 the group Teatro Brasileiro de Comédia (TBC) staged in São Paulo the dramatic text of Luigi Pirandello Seis Personagens à procura de um autor, with great effect between the public and the critics on the Rio-São Paulo axis, demonstrating the consolidation of the theatrical company created in 1948 by the engineer Franco Zampari. With the development of industrialization and urbanization in São Paulo an elite sought to create a cultural project capable to establish in the city the cultural experiences that these men had when they passed through Europe, modernizing the local cultural scene. Thus, this research sought through the use of the memories of the agents who integrated the TBC and the narratives elaborated by the theater critics, to think about the modernity indices presents in the staging of Seis Personagens and to reflect about the establishment of the modernity milestones in the history of the Brazilian Theater.
