Resumo: The diversity of EAD (The Distance Education) environments for Web provides its users with different features that can be applied in the process of teaching and learning at distance. Considering such premise, this study presents the development of a WebLab following the serviceoriented computing paradigm. In this architecture, the application s building blocks are services that can be recursively composed resulting in more comprehensive services. Every physical or logical lab resource is modeled and implemented as a service and the experiments offered by WebLab are built by the composition of these services. It presents a WebLab built on the mentioned architecture, and so exploring experiments in the remote area of computer networks. Among the significant features of the proposed WebLab architecture, the platform independence, the pattern for exchanging messages using XML (eXtensible Markup Language) and the communication between the user s domain and of Laboratory s domain using SOAP, protocol (Simple Object Access Protocol); scalability to represent and to configurate the labs hosts; flexibility to insert new physical/logical resources requiring developers a little effort; composition of experiments without changing existing ones.
