Resumo: | The flooding phenomenon occurs in a vertical liquid film flow with a gas flow in the counter-current sense. This problem has been studied during the last 40 years. The comprehension of this kind of flow is very important for many practical applications. In this work, the transition phenomenon of flooding is studied with the aid of a semi-analytical mathematical model. A set of partial differential equations are reduced to a single partial differential equation, using an asymptotic analysis. The partial differential equation is related to the liquid film thickness. This equation is split in its steady-state part and its transient part. The first equation (steady-state) is solved with the Chebyshev spectral method and the second equation (transient) is solved with the aid of a stability analysis. The main results are related to the flooding point determination. They are presented as a function of the liquid velocity and gas velocity. They agree very well with the experimental results existing in the current literature. |
