The general aim of this work is to investigate how Ferdinand de Saussure (1857-1913) establishes the place of the linguist and what he does, based on the autograph manuscript entitled Double Essence of Language (EDL). The EDL was probably written in 1891. It was located in 1996 in Geneva, in the Orangerie of Saussure's family villa. It has more than 274 pages and its content is striking because it is the germinal conception of the concepts of general linguistics postulated by the Geneva master. The EDL manuscript source was catalogued by Robert Godel in the same year that it was found, and is under the heading of Arch. de Saussure 372 and archived at the Public University Library of Geneva (BPU). The EDL manuscript is the subject of numerous national and international studies, and this is also our research corpus, which offers data on Saussure's formative movement in the conception of his postulates on General Linguistics. The specific objectives of this research are as follows: i) to investigate the influences of late 19th and early 20th century linguistics on Saussure's elaborations; ii) to learn about the paths taken by Saussure to delimit the object of linguistics, placing himself in formation; and iii) to reflect on Saussure's formation through the EDL manuscript source, as well as the Brazilian productions that use the corpus. The EDL manuscript source revealed two sides to the linguist's education:The EDL handwritten source revealed two sides to the linguist's education: The first concerns the formation of the linguist, i.e. the formation "Of" Saussure, and highlights this process of the Genevan himself, placing himself in formation at the same time as establishing the epistemological apparatus that would delimit the object of linguistics; the second is the researcher who comes across the manuscript source forming himself, therefore, "In" Saussure, and articulates the document with others that make up the master's intellectual heap. In this panorama of scientific research, we find various reflections that demonstrate that there are many aspects to be discussed in the immense legacy of the master Saussure with regard to the formation of the linguist, the central theme of this work. RÉSUMÉ: Ce travail a pour objectif général d’enquêter sur la façon dont Ferdinand de Saussure (18571913) établit le lieu du linguiste et ce qu’il fait, à partir du manuscrit autographe intitulé Double essence de la langue (EDL). La EDL a comme date probable de son écriture l’année 1891. Il a été localisé en 1996 à Genève, dans l’Orangerie de la maison de campagne de la famille de Saussure. Il compte plus de 274 feuilles et son contenu attire l’attention car il s’agit de la conception en état germinal des concepts sur la linguistique générale postulée par le maître genevois. La source manuscrite EDL a été cataloguée par Robert Godel dans la même année de son emplacement, et est sous la rubrique de l’Arch. Saussure 372 et archivée à la Bibliothèque publique universitaire de Genève (BPU). Le manuscrit EDL est le sujet de nombreuses études nationales et internationales, et c’est aussi notre corpus de recherche, Il fournit des données sur le mouvement de formation de Saussure dans la conception de ses postulats sur la linguistique générale. Les objectifs spécifiques de cette recherche sont les suivants : i) étudier les influences de la linguistique de la fin du XIXe et du début du XXe siècle sur les élaborations de Saussure; ii) connaître les chemins empruntés par Saussure pour délimiter l’objet de la linguistique, en se mettant en formation; et iii) réfléchir sur la formation de Saussure par la source manuscrite EDL, ainsi que sur les productions brésiliennes qui utilisent le corpus. La source manuscrite EDL nous a révélé deux faces quant à la formation du linguiste : Le premier concerne la formation du linguiste, c’est-à-dire la formation "De" Saussure, et met en évidence ce processus de genebrin lui-même, se mettant en formation en même temps qu’il établissait l’appareil épistémologique qui délimiterait l’objet de la linguistique; la seconde est le chercheur qui se trouve avec la source manuscrite formant donc "Dans" Saussure, et articule le document avec d’autres qui composent la monture intellectuelle du maître.Dans ce panorama de la recherche scientifique, nous trouvons plusieurs réflexions qui démontrent qu’il y a beaucoup d’aspects à discuter dans l’immense héritage du maître Saussure en ce qui concerne la formation du linguiste, Le thème central de ce travail.
