People with Locked-In Syndrome have several motor impairments. Devices and technologies provide alternative means of communication for people with Locked-In Syndrome. These devices allow these people to maintain a limited form of communication. One of the most used communication mechanisms are the Alternative Communication Boards, which is classified as low or high technology. The aim of this work is to develop a model of a high technology Alternative Communication Board. This board uses trigger devices as input mechanism and the methods of navigation in the graphic interface were the scanning and the direct navigation. Therefore, I analyzed suggestion techniques that minimize users effort interaction while composing messages. After the analyze I developed a new suggestion method. The method were build aiming the context of use of alternative communication boards. Finally, two experiments were carried out. The experiments compares and evaluates the traditional suggestion techniques with the technique proposed in this thesis.
