Resumo: The use of the term Participatory Design (PD) is historically associated with a series of practices that deal with the inclusion of partners in the design process. Currently, conventional PD actions advocate the valorization of its pedagogical and emancipatory character. In this way, it seeks ways to understand conflicts of interest in real contexts and to act to promote social empowerment. From this context, the present research is of a social character, applied in nature, with a qualitative approach and based on inductive reasoning. Furthermore, it adopts as a method the Ex-post-facto Case Study and Participant Observation of the Project VII discipline, taught in the undergraduate Design course at the Federal University of Uberlândia. The interest in this curricular component is due to the fact that it proposes direct contact between students and members of the community outside the university, through the application of tools based on collaboration for the development of projects. As a result, guiding elements are presented for the insertion of participatory practices in Design education, especially in project disciplines, understanding the challenges and these practical contributions in the training of individuals sensitive to social demands.
