Resumo: | This Dissertation board the use of the recycled polystyrene sulfonate (PSS) from commercial plàstic cups as alternative coagulation, flocculation and flotation auxiliary agent in the physical-chemical of the process of clarify of waters and drainage. Studies were conducted for water and drainage from the Departamento Municipal de Água e Esgoto de Uberlândia (DMAE). Simple and fast measures of turbidity and pH was of great utility to study the effectiveness of use polymers in the Jar-Test. The result of the PSS was compared at the anionic polyacrylamide polymer (AQUALEX 360®) used in the water treatment and at the cationic polyacrylamide polymer (W 360®) used in the drainage treatment, which are used at the DMAE. Others polymers were also used for comparasion A3015® (polyacrilamide, anionic); A3040® (polyacrilamide .anionic); N3100® (polyacrilamide, no anionic). The results demonstrated that the polyelectrolytes PSS and AQUALEX 360® strong anionics aren't good in water with turbydity lawer 5 NTU and some times prejudice the process of clarify of the water, however, in waters a little turbydity (greater 30 NTU) the polymers are effectives, include the process of flotation of the drainage. The comparatives tests between polymers utilizedes by the treatment of the water demonstrate that the younger (A3015®, N3100®) are more efficients in the water with turbydity about 13,0 NTU that strong anionycs polymers (PSS, AQUALEX 360®, A3040®). Thus Chemical recycling of waste polystyrene is important because the product PSS could be utilized for water and drainage treatment and environmental preservation. |
