Resumo: In contemporary society, teacher mediation in the constructive processes of student citizenship becomes increasingly imperative, so that school inequalities can be overcome. This mediation demands that initial and continuing teacher training be rethought based on constant reflection on pedagogical and teaching practice. However, concerns about improving the qualifications of the teacher training process and their professional practice conditions are not new and have been accentuated in the face of the sociocultural inequalities we experience today; to this end, we have the Pedagogical Residency Program (PRP) as a public policy training. In this sense, we understand that the practices of residents of the Pedagogy course can be a way to rethink the initial and continued training of these graduates and that the Pedagogical Residency Program presents itself as a means to improve knowledge and reaffirm the commitment to quality public education. Thinking about initial training, our general objective is to analyze the potentialities of the Pedagogical Residency Program, Literacy Center/UFU, from 2020 to 2022, for the pedagogy students. In the specific objectives, we intend to: (i) the project developed by the Literacy Center at UFU; and (ii) elaborate an Educational Product based on the training proposals of the PRP. The research methodology will be based on qualitative methodological contributions, with documental analysis, using documents from the PRP, including the action plan and the residents' reports. The analysis was conducted along three axes: (1) Scenario for the construction of professional teaching identity. (2) Training intentions reflected in teaching practice. (3) Effective contributions of the PRP to teacher training. As an Educational Product, didactic information about the PRP was created, entitled: Pedagogical Residency Program: Path to teacher training. We consider that the program encourages moments of constant individual and collective reflection, and has the potential to allow effective and meaningful contributions to residents of the pedagogy degree course. We also believe the training objectives of the Pedagogical Residency Program are broad and aim to prepare future teachers completely, enabling them to face the challenges of teaching practice and to contribute significantly to the quality of education in Brazil.
