Resumo: The present dissertation has the intention to comprehend the transformations in the work relations and life of thousands of workers in our society that happened, mostly, during the decades of 1990 and 2000, analyzing interviews with assistant attendants of the city of Uberlândia in Minas Gerais, and see how they feel and understand their work for these companies. The issue of time, techniques and technologies were dealt with the aim to comprehend how workers and their bosses have new habits, customs and values in society, changes which occur very fast in their lives, causing many times harmful consequences to their physical and mental well-being. Finally, the analysis of the process of the flexibility related to work by interviews with the workers, analysis of booklets produced by companies and the dialogue with authors of several areas of knowledge provided plenty of reflection relevant to the discussion about contemporary capitalist relations, emphasizing the assistant attendants of Uberlândia, once ―call centers‖ can be considered a privileged environment where the changes in life and work of different people can be noticed with great intensity.
