Resumo: | In this work, a photograph method has been developed for studying of hydrodynamic physical phenomena of high frequencies of drop formation in jet-plate sprays. Experimental tests have been done using various kinds of illumination techniques. Ulumination equipment has been developed using a strobe lamp triggered by a pulse signal. The formation of drops in a jet-plate spray consists of 4 phases: a) a free jet impinging on the conic plate, b) a liquid film on the conic plate, c) a free sheet forrned downstream of the plate and d) a front of drops. On the free jet, various sorts of instabilities have been observed; where the combined presence of these instabilities depended on the Reynolds number. A comparative study has been done, comparing the break-up distance for various types of nozzles. this confirmed the dependence of spray pattem on nozzle geometry. The results permit the visualisation of the dynamic process of drop formation. Free sheet instabilities in the form of gaps were observed, and these influenced the formation of drop fronts and tliree dimensional oscillations. The quantification of drops by the photographic method presented good results, but a more profound study was limited by the software used. |
