Resumo: The intent of this dissertation is to handle the investigation related to the will concept foundations in the inner man, which can be found at “The Life of The Mind”, Hannah Arendt’s book. Specifically, you will be able to find here the examination of the second chapter named “The discovering of the inner man”, from a section called “Will”. Considering that will is the lever that drives the human activities, making them move on the world arena, to make this investigation work as a machine of evidencies, the roadmap below was taken. (I) The Hebrew understanding about experiences’ basis, that make possible for man to aquire the conscience that are able to do volitions, and what is the role of these volitions on the limited ambit of their own culture. (II) The stoic understanding of the ‘will’ concept as an omnipotent element, when juxtaposing to events that happen, building then an internal mirror-room, which reflects the doings and translates this reflection as the individual ‘will’ act itself. (III) The role exercised by the ‘will’ on the Augustine’s life transformation, whose mind was altered, from the ignition that ‘will’ provided, fact that became public when his thoughts and acts were narrated on his Confessions. (IV) The sensibility demonstrated by Hannah Arendt on her analysis of the role of the ‘will’ observed on the actions promoted by man, that fills and transform the space that exists between them: the political space. Starting from the understanding of the foundation of this concept, the ‘will’ one, on “The Life of the Mind”, we sought to know the use of the ‘will’ concept in others Arendt’s books, and analyze if her ‘will’ concept have similarities with the concept of ‘will’ from Paul of Tarsus, the apostle.
