Resumo: | The Covid-19 pandemic led to a global emergency, directly reflecting on Federal Institutions of Higher Education, putting to the test the planning and capacity to deal with change. Thus, through a qualitative, descriptive, exploratory and documentary research, the university management of UFU was analyzed in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, identifying the ways of acting, the governance process and risk management, in addition to the impacts of decisions taken in the training of students. The research results in a diagnosis of UFU management actions, demonstrating that the time taken to make decisions directly impacts the continuity of academic activities, generating reflections on students, teachers and administrative technicians, causing a condensation of periods within a space of shorter than normalized time, a decrease in enrollments and an increase in dropout rates. The short calendar, the remote/hybrid activities and the slow decision-making process, due to the hierarchical and bureaucratic structure, make the mission of offering quality education difficult, factors that are aggravated by the budget cuts made by the government and by public policies aimed at education of way insufficient. As a technological product, this research can contribute with findings identified in the teaching management process and with suggested goals for the PIDE 2022-2027, targeting actions to measure the situation of students regarding education and quality of education, allowing the institution to promote its core activity and mission with excellence. |
