Resumo: The study of occupational health of military firefighters and the relation with the conditions in which the work is carried out are indispensable for understanding the various forms of illness of these workers. In this sense, this study sought to understand the occupational health of the Military Firefighters of Minas Gerais who work in the city of Uberlândia-MG. To that end, initially, a bibliographic review relevant to the theme was carried out. Then, sociodemographic and occupational data collected in the Occupational Medical Examination form of 247 military firefighters belonging to the Fire Department of Uberlândia were organized and analyzed. In the selected sample, 90.3% are male and 9.3% are female. The average age of the troops was 36.7 years with a standard deviation of 7.4. There was a predominance of sergeants (38.5%) and corporals (33.6%) in relation to rank and graduation, with a prevalence of operational activities over administrative ones. The majority of the troops do not have any health complaints (84.7%), nor do they have any chronic illness (88.7%), nor a history of family illness (57.9%). Most of them claimed not to make chronic use of medication (89.9%) and also did not have medical follow up about any chronic disease (93.1%). It was noted that 98.0% and 98.8%, respectively, have no problem with housing and sanitation. 63.6% and 83.8% reported adequate leisure and regular physical activity. About 8.9% are undergoing psychological treatment and 21.9% have previously undergone psychological treatment. Regarding the AUDIT (Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test) scores, the general average of the troop was 2.0, indicating low-risk use of alcohol. The majority of the troops are married or cohabited (71.7%) and have children (60.2%), with predominance of complete high school education (35.2%). This chart points out that, according to the data collected in the study, the military firefighters in the research are in good health, however significant differences were detected as they perform operational or administrative activities. And it is hoped, with the results of this study, to contribute to actions of planning and implementing measures aimed at mitigating risks and injuries in the occupational health of the military firefighters in Uberlândia, in order to guarantee the health of these workers who are essential for the public security.
