Resumo: | Objectives:To investigate predictive factors related to urinary incontinence in runners.Method:Cross-sectional study including 105 female runners aged 18 to 53 years, body mass index values between 18 kg / m2 and 25 kg / m2, who had been running for at least twelve months, with training volume above 15 km per week for at least 12 months, except for a regenerative week, and for women who have been pregnant, have at least 12 months postpartum. Pelvic floor muscles (PFM) were assessed by vaginal palpation graded by the modified Oxford scale and by maximum voluntary contraction using the Peritron pressure gauge. Results: One hundred and five female runners were included in the study. Urinary incontinence was associated with longer running time (p = 0,004), higher weekly mileage (p = 0,005), and exercise other than running (p = 0,029). In addition, higher strength MAP was associated with urinary continence (p = 0,021).Conclusion: Predictors of runner urinary incontinence were longer running time, weekly high mileage, and other exercise. |
