Resumo: Brazilian furniture design has a long history that underlies the creation of furniture to this day, even in an era marked by consumption like the present moment. This dissertation sought to discuss the role of macrotrends in the design of contemporary furniture pieces, using the trajectory of the designer Jader Almeida as a starting point for this apprehension. The research, which followed a qualitative and exploratory approach, was developed through a systematic literature review, documentary research, and analysis of objects and furniture. The aim was to enable a critical analysis of the designer's work and his professional profile. The content discussed included cultural and historical contexts of the designer's production, references to his work such as the Modern Movement and Minimalism, as well as discussions about macrotrends. As a result of the analysis, it was possible to infer that Jader Almeida positions himself as a strategic designer, possessing design and communication skills that contribute to the recognition of his products in the international scenario. It is worth mentioning, however, that sustainability is not frequently addressed in institutional discourses, with luxury being the central focus, as evidenced by the high market value of his pieces.
