Resumo: | This study evaluated magnesium oxysulfate (MOS) matrices reinforced with AR glass fibers and the addition of limestone for civil construction applications. The objective was to investigate the impact of limestone and fibers on the physical and mechanical properties of MOS, as well as the durability of AR glass fibers in the composite. Mechanical and physical tests, along with Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) observations, were conducted on samples cured at room temperature and with thermal curing. The results showed that low limestone content enhances the microstructure of MOS, increasing flexural strength and improving dimensional stability. The addition of glass fibers also significantly increased flexural strength. However, thermal curing by immersion in hot water was ineffective in improving the strength of MOS. The AR glass fibers maintained their integrity and compatibility with the basic character of the composite. |
