Resumo: | The object of this work was defined from the initial analysis of the concept of “MPB” (Brazilian Popular Music) in the historiography about brazilian music. The project has as a specific objective to discuss the theoretical and methodological application in the analyzes on the history of brazilian music written by Arnaldo Daraya Contier and Marcos Napolitano. In order to do this, we seek to investigate the theoretical basis of these historians, to understand the sources of political and intellectual inspiration and their methodological procedures. In addition, we discuss the search for the classification of "national" and "popular" in Brazil from the musical art. Subsequently, as a tangential objective, we aim to understand and verify the historiographic continuity / discontinuity of this line of approach, in order to identify the possible theoretical and methodological links and departures between the authors. Finally, there is also the intention of proposing a historiographic approach on Brazilian popular music from the idea of an aesthetic regime of the arts. Keywords: Arnaldo Contier; Marcos |
