Resumo: | The phosphate glass samples 40P2O5-20Al2O3-35Na2O-5K2O doped with Nd3+ ions and CdS quantum dots produced by the fusion method had their optical and structural properties studied. In this study, optical absorbance, photoluminescence, lifetime, Raman spectroscopy, z-scan and thermal lens datas were analyzed to determine these characteristics. The quantum dots growth was confirmed by the absorption spectra, photoluminescence, transmission electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. With Nd3+ addition, the energy transfer from the CdS quantum dots to the Nd3+ ions. The Raman spectroscopy and lifetime data reveal a great possibility that the Nd3+ ions are at different sites in the CdS doped matrix and this affects the lifetime when different excitation wavelengths. The z-scan data with direct quantum dots excitation show second and fourth order nonlinear effects and such results reveal a different polarization difference for each CdS concentration. The thermal lens data with direct Nd3+ ions excitation shows a quantum efficiency similar to the same sample not doped with CdS. |
