This thesis seeks to revisit the memories of former residents of the areas affected by the Serra do Facão HPP, in order to understand how their ways of life, their sociability, their cultural practices reinterpreted, a decade after the removal of a large part of the inhabitants of the surroundings of the São River Marcos, in Southeast Goiás. Therefore, it aims to understand the sociocultural processes, the way in which the subjects affected by the project recreated their relationships with the place and with the city, redefining new relationships after the installation of the Hydroelectric Power Plant. It seeks to observe how they currently perceive the impact of the process on their lives, how they assess the changes they have gone through and how they applied the resources acquired with the indemnities. In addition, it aims to understand how these transformations occurred in Catalão/GO, since this city is a regional hub and the most affected, directly and indirectly, by the hydroelectric project. The concepts that guide the study are those of memory, belonging and place. Referenced by Cultural History, they allow rediscovering the set of meanings shared and constructed by men and women to explain the world. The documental sources used in the work are basically made up of oral and written memory records; economic and statistical data, photographs, reports and documents produced in the construction and installation process of the Serra do Facão Hydroelectric Power Plant.
