Resumo: | The study objective analyze strategies constructed to mold space urban and sociocultural of Uberaba/MG, between the years 1889 and 1927, with a view to a process civilizing. It is a purpose to understand the city representations from speeches that called as civilized, the performance of different civilizing instances and the way they were given guidelines to civilize the subject. The seeds were divided into three groups: legislative, memoirs and press. At the core of health strategies and urban interventions occurring in Brazilian cities in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century had a civilizing dimension that was intended to conform pipes and urban spaces. At this point lies the theoretical path of research with the motto of the contributions authors working with the themes of civilization and civilizing process , with Cities and History , as well as authors, at the regional scale of Triângulo Mineiro and Alto Paranaíba, conducted research that contemplate these themes. Indeed, the interaction in the urban space between connected subject to different groups implied, between part of townspeople, in the effort to transform the habits, customs and ways of living in the city. Also, hygiene, sanitarism, urbanization and the beautification of urban space corroborated means to ban the landscape what was considered and impertinence in the city that modernized, progressed and civilizing. |
