Resumo: The search for solutions to the diverse problems associated with power quality, in particular the regulation of the supply voltage, has been a source of various innovative proposals, which fit satisfactorily within the legislation presently practiced. In particular, while recognizing the wide range of products on the market, the design of devices based on principles and control which are simple in concept, and still able to provide, competitive costs, lower maintenance requirements, among other things, still present challenges to the research and development of new products. In this context, this study focuses on the proposal of a fully electromagnetic device as far as the power components are concerned with a discrete mechanical tap changer compensation approach, which through the injection of additive or subtractive series reinforcement provides voltage regulation for both three-phase and single phase feeders, the latter being required by many rural installations. This work highlights the physical structure of the equipment; presents computational results extracted from the simulator ATP; proposes a frequency domain model and compares the theoretical performance obtained from measurements carried out through the use of a scaled down prototype of the regulator, all of which thus validates the proposed study.
