Resumo: The main object of study in this work is the story of one school in Quirinópolis, Goiás (Escola Normal Regional Coronel Quirino) from 1954 to 1961, showing this institution mainly as place to prepare elementary school teachers. The analisys is divided in three contexts that, at an integrate way, describes the institucionalization of the Normal School in Brazil and shows differences between the social, cultural and economic development of the cowntry and Goiás. The first part intends to contribute to the National History of Education, specialy concerning aspects related to the Normal Schools institutionalization problematic, processes of profissionalization of magistery and evolution of teaching in Brazil. The major emphasis in the second part is on the Normal Schools History at Goiás, trying to show the politic pathways involved in its creation such as the historie facts related to the public teachers at that State. The trajetory of the educational policy is analysed since the moment that the creation of the Normal School became necessary at Goiás, until the decade of 1960. The third part focuses on aspects related to the institutionalization of the Normal School of Quirinópolis, as a place of divulgation of knowledge and pedagogic practices intending the moral and ethic formation. The results alow us to know that the Coronel Quirino Regional Normal School had great social importance, helping its former studentes to become leaders of public and private sectors of the city and the State.
