Resumo: The rise of China as a major player in international trade has caused different effects on developed and developing countries, either by their recent incorporation of technological content in its export portfolio and the high demand for agricultural commodities and minerals. These two effects have affected greatly, Brazil, for within a context of fragmentation of production, competition between the two countries can be intense. Therefore this study aims to analyze the rise of China's impact on the competitiveness of Brazilian exports of manufactured products on the market ALADI from 2003 to 2013. Therefore, using the methodology by market segment according to degree of product quality enhanced by Fontagne et al. (2008) seeks to understand in which sectors there really is the Chinese threat to Brazilian competitiveness. In addition, the aim is to list the factors that influence the growth of exports, especially of manufactured products according to the technological intensity of each country within the ALADI through increased gravitational model.
