Resumo: | The role of intermediation of flows of medium-sized cities is fundamental for the complexification of the Brazilian urban scenario. The same is true of the Amazonian urban network, in particular of the Eastern Amazon macro-region, where the intermediate cities play an important role, being even used as links of access to small centers through the national integration policy undertaken in this territory. At this juncture, the objective of this work is to understand the vertical production of space and its relations with urban planning undertaken in Imperatriz, the main middle city of Maranhão, and in Marabá, the third largest urban center of Pará. Using the analysis of urban policy instruments, in particular the Master Plan, which we understand to be a legislative apparatus subject to the clash of forces that aim to appropriate the contemporary city. It starts from the hypothesis that verticalization in intermediate cities tends to follow the vertical dynamics of large centers, with the social and spatial spread of buildings. Therefore, the methodological approach adopted used field research, directed observation and filling out forms for the collection of primary data, as well as for the elaboration of the results presented in the form of graphs, tables, charts, maps and organization charts. Thus, it was found that the two realities studied have considerable similarities in the process of socio-spatial formation and the influence of the regional context. However, in relation to intraurban structuring and vertical production we have two distinct realities. In both, the production of buildings dates from the early 1980s, with the spatial logic of the buildings present in a similar way, but with different intensity, to the point that it is possible to identify the vertical housing market in one and in another not. That said, the verticalization of Imperatriz and Marabá is an indication of the importance that these centers. |
