Resumo: | Objectives: systematization and publication of a research protocol for the analysis of a multicomponent and environmental intervention focused on recovering the nutritional status of overweight children and adolescents living in low-income communities in the city of São Paulo, Southeast Brazil, as well as investigating the association between serum concentration of 25(OH)D and sociodemographic, anthropometric and biochemical characteristics in Brazilian children and adolescents (8 to 12 years old) in this same population. Methods: The sample was composed of 196 participants of both genders (BMI for age >1 z score) ages 8 to 12, of two public schools of southeast Brazil. The multivariate linear regression analysis included biochemical and sociodemographic parameters with adjustments for age, gender, and pubertal stage. Results: Serum levels of vitamin D were insufficient/deficient in 84.2% (n=165/196) of the participants. In multivariate analysis, serum 25(OH)D concentration showed a negative association with having access at home internet (β= -2.71; p =0.01), total serum cholesterol (β= -0.05; p = 0.03), phosphorus (β = -2.54; p = 0.03) and PTH (β= -4.57; p=0.06). Conclusions: There was a high prevalence of 25(OH)D deficiency in overweight children and adolescents of low income; 25(OH)D levels were inversely associated with biochemical parameters(PTH, total cholesterol and phoshorus) and acess to home internet. |
