Resumo: Objectives: The objective of the present study is to perform a systematic review of the literature on the surgical treatment of osteosarcoma with liquid nitrogen. Patients and Methods: On November 3, 2017, a survey was conducted in the medical literature to identify all peer-reviewed articles investigating risk factors related to liquid nitrogen treatment in osteosarcoma. Thus, articles in which no clear distinction was made between Osteosarcoma and Freezing were not considered for selection. Results: We selected 19 studies of 1007 from the systematic review, a total of 1 controlled clinical trial, 8 cohort studies, 2 control cases, 5 retrospective studies, 3 transversal studies were evaluated. These studies were conducted in the following countries: Japan, Egypt, Taiwan, China, Thailand and Indonesia. Conclusion: The treatment of bone sarcomas with liquid nitrogen is feasible, and is considered by some authors as a therapeutic option because of its availability, ability to allow biological reconstruction and post-surgical recovery, however, further studies with larger series are needed.
