Programa educativo sobre Cuidados Paliativos: promoção de escuta e acolhimento

Resumo: | Palliative Care was defined by the World Health Organization in 1990, being a recent specialty. There is a growing demand for training of health professionals. The aims of this study were: To apply a education training program in Palliative Care to nursing team, and to verify whether the program offered space for listening and welcoming for professionals. The study was an research action, exploratory and descriptive. The project was implemented in a hospital in the municipality of Mauá. An education program in Palliative Care was carried out, directed to the nursing team, lasting 20 hours, divided into 5 meetings of 4 hours each, once a week. The group was composed of 20 nursing professionals, of whom 8 participated in at least 4 meetings. They were assistants, technicians (75%) and nurses (25%), aged 18 to 40 years (61%). Among the themes mentioned, we highlight: Need for information and expression of feelings, work process / organization, personal experiences, perception of the patient / care and comments about the course. During the tour some themes were added to meet the demands raised by the group. The group perceived the food offered as an act of care and listened to it as an opportunity for expression and interaction. We expected death and finitude as the most commented theme, however the daily situations experienced prevailed. Listening proved to be an important strategy for welcoming these professionals, and it can be inserted into an educational program, without prejudice to the content. |
