Resumo: | The orthodontic forces applied to the teeth generate complex patterns of mechanical loading, comprising compressive, tensile and shear deformations which, in turn, elicit diverse and complex biological responses in the periodontal tissues immediately around the loaded teeth. Aim:The present study aims to analyze the impact of compressive force on dentistry. Methods:In order to do so, as methodology, it uses the literature review in scientific articles published in periodicals that discuss the subject under analysis. Results: It was seen that although previous studies have reported several factors related to the efficiency of orthodontic treatment, in practice, the most controllable factor to obtain the maximum bio-response within the periodontium is the magnitude of the force applied to the teeth. Conclusion:At the end of the study it was concluded that intermittent compressive force stimulates bone resorption in orthodontic treatment. However, high compressive strength in orthodontics should be avoided to avoid tissue damage, while moderate compressive force enables active tissue remodeling and tooth movement. |
