Resumo: The National School Feeding Programme (PNAE), the oldest social program the federal government directed to education and also Brazil's largest school feeding program, goes through updates and constant adjustments since its inception in the 1950s until the present time . Historically, the PNAE has always supported the family farm as it buys food for school meals. But in 2009, with the entry into force of Law No. 11.947 / 09, it is that it has created an institutional link between school feeding and family farming. However, it is observed that there are difficulties in inclusion of family agriculture products in school meals and the interaction between the municipal government and farmers, reflecting the low participation of local farmers and the few genre contracts in the counties. An analysis of the potential use of PNAE resources in the southwest region and metropolitan west to promote regional family farms and researched up the pilot project developed by the municipality of Itapecerica da Serra-SP, developed by municipal managers was held to promote family farming and initially serve school meals 14 municipal day care centers and interviewed 54 farmers in the region to meet the difficulties in participating in the program.
